Luxury Hotels In Austin
Kimpton Hotel Van Zandt
With its industrial design, the Van Zandt is the most Austin-centric luxury hotel in the city. The hotel stands just off Rainey Street, which is lined with bars and live music venues. The Van Zandt’s key offerings include a pool, which sits among the city’s skyline, and the on-site restaurant Geraldine’s.
The Driskill
The Driskill is Austin’s oldest operating hotel and one of its most indulgent. Located right in the heart of the city along Sixth Street, the towering, early-20th-century architecture stands out beautifully. The Driskill has a variety of room options, but all provide elegant stays. The bakery, which serves a range of first-class pastries, may be one of the best-kept secrets of Sixth Street. Head to the backroom for the hotel bar and restaurant, where you can catch local musicians perform stripped-down sets every night.
Lake Austin Spa Resort
With 40 rooms to its name, Lake Austin Spa Resort is an intimate, secluded hotel on the shores of Lake Austin, just 30 minutes from downtown. It’s a place to get away from it all when you’re in need of some quality self care (or a couples vacation). Activities like Tai Chi, meditation, yoga, cooking demos and sundown wine cruises are available, in addition to the hotel’s world-class spa which offers spa packages and individual treatments (we’re a fan of the Muscle Tension Melt treatment). The hotel regularly books speakers and artists for hotel guests who need a bit of inspiration between their kayak jaunts on the lake.
South Congress Hotel
Helmed by the hospitality group behind downtown interior Mexican standby La Condesa and Thai favorite Sway, South Congress Hotel offers 83 rooms of understated luxury, but a stay at the South Austin newcomer offers much more than just slumber. Between the three restaurants (classic American at Central Standard, light kale salads at Café No Sé, and pricey omakase from Otoko), coffee shop (Mañana), lobby bar with live DJs, and retail from vintage gearheads Revival Cycles, it’s worth blocking off a weekend just to explore the grounds.
Hotel Ella
Hotel Ella is housed in one of the city’s most historic properties. Guests are free to enjoy this old mansion at their leisure – relaxing on the second-story wraparound porch or dining on bistro-style food at Goodall’s Kitchen. The hotel also makes a pretty good cocktail at its on-site lounge, the Parlor Bar.
The Westin Austin Downtown
A stunning rootop pool, a state-of-the-art fitness studio (plus guided group runs), deluxe rooms with views of downtown Austin—the Westin is a luxurious option for any stay you’re planning in the heart of the city. Hang at the Azul, the tallest rooftop bar and lounge in Austin, or dine at the elegant Stella San Jac before heading out on the town. The Westin is a pet-friendly hotel, too, with options to request a dog bed and treats from a local dog bakery. Because your four-legged friend deserves a staycation just as much as you do.
W Austin
The W Austin, opened in December 2010, is one of the city’s newest luxury hotels. Featuring a minimalist design that incorporates elements of southwestern decor, its 251 rooms are housed on the first 16 floors of a mixed hotel-and-condo tower. It’s well located in the heart of Austin’s newly emerged 2nd Street District close to sights, shopping, and entertainment. The rooms are average in size, comfortably stylish, and feature modern amenities. The W is the haunt of mostly young, affluent travelers, and so is staffed and outfitted accordingly.
The Living Room bar is a popular gathering spot for Austinites, and the young and hip congregate at the W’s WET Pool on weekends. Trace, its signature restaurant, is one of the city’s culinary hot spots.
